One thing I learned doing a lot of cowrites is that your role in each session might be different. Sometimes I'd be writing with someone who was more of a melody writer, so I'd take on more of a lyrics role, sometimes vice versa. I had one guy who often came up with a lot of really great ideas quickly so my role there was often to edit, shape and organize those ideas which was fine by me. Sometimes you're the leader, sometimes you're playing a support role and it all okay.
